Dear Chairperson,
I am writing to bring to your attention a deeply troubling incident that occurred at the Greenville Community Shelter on August 12, 2025, where a resident was stabbed inside the facility.
According to multiple witness accounts:
A shelter staff member was informed beforehand that an assailant intended to stab another resident.
Instead of taking protective measures, that staff member escorted the assailant into the kitchen and office area and allegedly provided access to a knife.
The victim was subsequently attacked and seriously injured.
It has also been reported that law enforcement was made aware of the threat prior to the incident but failed to act.
When pressed about security camera footage, shelter administration claimed that cameras only retain footage for 48 hours. If true, this raises immediate concerns about the destruction of critical evidence (spoliation).
This is not just a tragedy — it is a matter of gross negligence and dereliction of duty by both the shelter administration and those responsible for oversight. Vulnerable residents seeking safety are instead placed in danger, while taxpayers fund a facility that appears to be failing in its most basic obligation: to protect human life.
I am requesting that the Pitt County Republican Party take a strong public stance on this issue by:
Calling for an independent investigation into shelter administration and staff conduct.
Demanding preservation and release of all security footage from the date of the incident.
Advocating for greater oversight of shelters funded through public or charitable dollars, to ensure accountability and safety.
This is not a partisan issue — it is a matter of public trust, community safety, and fiscal responsibility. The people of Greenville and Pitt County deserve transparency and assurance that such negligence will never be tolerated.
I look forward to your response and your leadership on this critical matter. I can be reached at 252.495.3173 to provide statements and pictures of the conditions inside the facility.

Why is it I get a million texts regarding this upcoming election daily, but received absolutely no information that JD Vance was in Greenville this past weekend! It seems the democrates knew he was coming, but the republicans got no info? What’s going on here?
I don’t think I voted in 2020. Please check and see if I have to reregister again to vote this time.

Hi folks, On my sample ballot for Pitt County, candidates who have dropped out of the race are listed under presidential options. Why is this? Why is there no listing for the Senate seat, Sandy Smith and Laurie Buckhout?
